I got my tank up and running yesterday and had a sandstorm right from the start. Maybe I didnt rinse my sand enough but I clearly oversized my return pump for sure. Ive got it on the lowest setting closed up the gate valve and redirected my return which greatly cut down the flow, the water seems to be a little cloudy still even after settling. Will a water change take out the remaining cloudiness?

Yeah, no reason to do a water change just yet. Give it time to settle/clear on it's own.

Save the salt and RODI for later on, cloudiness in a new tank is just par for the course. Give it some time, sounds like your right on track

Owen i saw your post on another thread about not running the skimmer till you have a nitrate drop could you elaborate so I can understand why. I have mine running mainly just because its plugged in the same power strip as my return right now. will it affect my cycle negatively once i get it kicked off?

Just not needed yet. No adverse affect running it either though. Just when I have always cycled a tank I try to keep it as dirty as possible to build up the good bacteria. Just my opinion though.
