Light interval kind of question

I work second shift so I run my lights from about 3:30 to 12:00pm. I like to check on everything when I get home to make sure everything is doing well.

My question is: Is it ok to rarely turn the lights on early or for an extra hour our two on rare occasions? It rarely happens but every now and then I have company coming over and I would like to show the tank.

I have done it a few times and everything has been fine but I wanted to see what you experienced peopel think.

When we have people over, I usually keep my tank on until about midnight. It has never adversely afected anything as far as I could tell.
