im setting up a 55g tank with LR and fish. the fish i have are puffers and will from what im told eat corals, anemonies and any other inverts. so i wont be keeping any of those in this tank but i want to get the most growth i can out of the LR. what type of lighting would be best for this. is the single bulb that came with the tank enuff, if so what type of bulb. also, i have a 20g that i want to make into a small reef tank. whats the best way to set this one up(lighting, skimmer, ....etc.)

I initially had a 3 tube AGA flourescent fixture on my 72, which is also a 4 foot tank. No MH, no T-5.

I had excellent coralline growth with the standard AGA bulbs, but swapped one out for an actinic, and still had stong growth.

My suggestion: go lower end if you aren't going for anenomes or corals.

ok thanks. thats what i was wondering...if i needed new bulbs or fixture. the 20 i would like to set up with some LR, coral, anemonies and a few small critters. id like to set up a bigger tank for this but just cant afford it right now. so ill go small and upgrade down the road.
