Live rock question curing

sdexcalibur1

Fish junkie
I had some less than desirable things on some live rock so decided it wS better to start from scratch. It's been in a empty bucket for about 2-3 weeks. Should I scrub all the dead stuff off in tap water or just throw it in a tub with saltwater, heater, ph and start the curing process?

I'd say put it in the sun for a few hours if you can. After that, you can use freshwater, but I would stick with RODI or even used tank water from a water change just to make certain you're keeping any heavy metals from getting into your tank when you set it up again. I use dirty tank water to cycle my live rock as well...some would disagree with doing that, but it has always worked for me.

I assume its dried out then? If so you could use with ro or saltwater and give it a good scrubbing. I would pull off as much death as you could. You can also trying to cycle it in the sane bucket vs doing it in your tank.
