Hi everyone, it's looking very likely that I will be moving at the end of July/beginning of August from Providence to Athens, Georgia to begin work on a Ph.D in coral reef ecology(!), specifically on the zooxanthellae that live in almost all of our frags. I'm really excited about it, but it does mean that I have to figure out a way to get my current system from here to there. It's only a 10G nano in my very small apartment, which makes things relatively easy. The best plan I can come up with at the moment that doesn't involve selling all my frags and starting over when I get there (grad school students don't make much money!) is to break down the tank and take all of the equipment with me while I find someone kind enough to take all of my frags and keep them in a prop tank for 2-3 weeks and then overnight them once my tank is reestablished. I'm not sure what to do with the live sand/live rock, one scenario is to put them in buckets for a very long (16+ hour) car ride, let them sit for a day or two while I move in and then put everything back together. Alternately they could also be shipped, anyone have advice on that? The frags are all pretty small, easily cared for and nonaggressive, mix of softies/LPS/easy SPS. Here's a list, nothing rare or expensive but collectively hard to repurchase cheaply:
Green, neon green, yellow and brown zoanthids
Green slimer acropora
Anacropora spp.
Orange M. digitata
Frogspawn
Kenya tree
Various mushrooms
Pulsing Xenia (if you don't want to introduce this to your tank, I understand!)
So, is there anyone out there (preferably within an hour of Providence, but it doesn't matter very much) that would be able to take in ~15 frags for a few weeks late this summer and ship them once I'm moved into my new place? If possible taking in and shipping the clean-up crew would also be nice, just some ceriths, nassarius, turbos, a conch, 3-4 hermits and a peppermint shrimp. I may have a couple of clowns too that would need the overnight treatment. I would greatly appreciate it, we can of course work out compensation. Thanks everyone!
