Lovely Pets - LFS for South Shore hobbyists

I have been in the hobby now for several months and have learned much from this website. However, I noticed that on this forum, there has been little said about Lovely Pets in Quincy. I have tried several different LFS from Boston down to New Bedford. I have found Lovely Pets to have superior fish inventory, superior coral selection (seems to have improved over the last couple of months) and proficient know-how from the owner. I purchased some additional florida live rock ($11.99 per pound and has fragments of polyp corals on many of the pieces along with other critters) and a toad stool coral this past Friday. What I found to be most helpful is that he has some coral tanks under PC lighting, MH and T5. I run PC's and it is very helpful to buy corals that are thriving under the lighting I will put them under. This takes some of the guess work out of it. I hope this helps other new hobbyists living on the South Shore find a good resource.

I haven't been down there in a few months but I used to do all my buying for livestock there. Knowledgable people with a good fish selection.

But I've found that they only had brown zoanthids in the zoa tank. Do you know if they had any decent zoas when you last went?

Yes. I use to notice that too when I first got into the hobby but, I didn't think much of it as I was such a rookie. His coral livestock continues to improve. I would put the quality of his corals on par with [another LFS] but, it is more convenient for me to go to Lovely Pets. He also has a larger selection. They did have some decent zoa's in there on Friday. I noticed that when he has really good specimen's, they go very quick as many people (including myself) regular comb the store. I've also noticed that his specimens look much better in m tank (PC lighting). For example, the toadstool that I purchased on Friday July 25, was about 3.5 inches tall and about 5.5 inches across. I paid $70. In his tank, it was slightly brownish. In my tank, it is fully opened now and a nice plush pink. I have had this experience with mushrooms and polyps I purchased as well. I just noticed this morning that I have an awesome zoa frag on one of the pieces of Florida live rock I purchased as well. It has a brilliant yellow and orange circle around the mouth.
