Lowest Salinity

Fish Filet!
What is the lowest safe salinity for inverts. Many people recommend to slowly change the salinity to 1.009 to help get rid of ich. can you do this for inverts? I thought that was past their threshold.

Thanks

I too never go below 1.023, but I know AA keeps their tanks at around 1.020 and the inverts there appear to be healthy.
As for treating for ich, I think you're outta luck.... unless you can catch them and treat in another tank.
I'm in a similar situation. I made a stupid mistake and transferred the parasite into my tank back in mid December. Knowing It'd be near impossible to catch all 11 fish, I've just been keeping an eye on the fish. Most have seemed to develop an imunity (only powder blue occasionally shows a few specs every wek or so), but I know ridding my tank of the parasite is near impossible and someday when I've got the time, I might try to fish them out.
Cleaner type shrimp will help.

I temporarily dipped down to 1.011 for a day in my reef tank (no, not on purpose) and it killed everything except a few crabs and one very lucky shrimp.

Basically everything without a spine was toast.

I wouldn't go that low. I'd drop the salinity some, but I wouldn't go past 1.019. Soak the food in garlic & Selcon or some other kind of fish vitamin, keep the water params up, and see if you can get your hands on a couple cleaner shrimp.

If the fish are still eating, this should help & it will most likely go away on it's own if you caught it in time.

lowest mine drops too is 1.023 or 1.024, i keep it nice and high :)

while i was dropping the salinity i had left a few inverts in there and noticed that around 22ppt they became stressed and retracted.
found the only thing that could survive down to 12ppt was hermits.

Just thought of something - do you have any shrimp or decorative starfish in your tank today? If so, I would def. not to hypo.
