skyedolphan,

Would you be buying this to get both the LED moonlights and cycle/intensity controller? The cycle/intensity controller is a neat idea, although I have no idea if it would actually benefit the captive reef. If you are getting this primarily for the LED moonlights themselves, you can build (or have them built) for MUCH MUCH less than 90$ + 5$ shipping. I think I spent a total of $7.76 on my DIY moonlights - 3 LEDS, 3 resistors + a 12V power supply and some wire that I had around hanging around. Throw in some heat shrink tubing, a little electrical tape, just a touch of solder and VOILA - moolight. The tank looks really cool with the LEDs lights on. But, of course, I don't have the ability to control the lunar cycle/intensity with this setup.

Just throwin' this in.

By the way, I am really enjoying how the guy who is selling the LunarTracker on eBay has a few charts showing "NASA data" and "simulated data" - like it's all scientific and official. Why do I feel like I am in the middle of an infommercial?!?

HI LOL ya that is kinda the way I was feeling also but I really liked the idea of a lunar cycle with the moonlights just wondering if there is anything to it ? but I guess my tank does well without it so maybe just leave well enough alone?

Dawn,
Paula's light fixture has a lunar cycle built in. Maybe she has some insight.

It is a wishful thinking.

1. It is impossible to simulate moonlight spectrum and intersity by using LED light.
2. Moonlight was originally designed for fish, not coral.
