metal halide light on ebay please check out

they'd most likely work

You're gonna need to replace the bulb though...

for an SE MH light, you're only looking 50 or 60 bucks for a magnetic ballast. maybe 15 or 20 more for the fixture...so its deceptive, you're not saving that much.

unless you plan on using it for a frag tank/sump/growout tank where you really dont care what it looks like and can live with what will probably be a 6500K, or 5000K...maybe even 4100K light.

If thats what you plan on doing, this is a steal.

Their is just so much stuff out their is overwhealming, Your right it doesn't look that great, don't think I would want it in my living room, Thanks for taking the time to
check it out for me.
Steve

yeah, I know what you mean. I just kinda gave up on mine and bought a 250w hqi pendant. was easier than trying to do it another way.

If you're planning on using a hood....

there are some really easy/cherap DIY options for SE.

HQI/DE just adds some DIY headache because you have to worry about UV, and higher heat issues.

That light would be big, loud, and heavy. Not the easiest to mount over tank :)

There are a few repo sites on the net selling MH lights from hydroponic "farming" raids... I nearly bought a few, real cheap. 400's are sweet lights.

ok I didn't ask the first time because I thought I could figure it out, but what is SE, Also would a single pendant over a 75 do it, I would think you would need two, All I have now is fish, inverts and rock, want corals and animinoe(spelling sorry),

SE is a Single Ended bulb. The number of pendents you need will depending on the wattage of the bulb/s and what corals you intend to keep.

I knew it was something simple (SE), Seen a couple of retro kits out their, I really have to build a hood first, That's why the pendants looked so interesting, The search goes on...

Canopies are really not all that tough to build. Go pickup 5 bucks worth of pine and some chains at home depot, instant aquaspace light :P
