My seahorse had babies again, I need rotifers for sale?

Mother of all creatures! It is amazing to watch the male have the babies.
As you know I was not successfull with my first batch because of my lack of experience keeping greenwater & rotifers.

If you have spare rotifers & greenwater for sale I will pick them up tonight.

The only source for rotifers I know of is skiptons & they ran out.

I kept 1 2 liter batch of rodifers in green water & the water is still green for 2 weeks, does this mean the rotifers died & they did not eat the green water?
This is what I plan to use for now, but I need some rotifers ASAP.

Can you order rotifers from a biological supply house?

I will check tomorrow to see what the cost of rotifers from Carolina Biological or Connecticut Valley Biological is. They are used in microscope work and they may have cultures. I'll check. Conn valley is in mass and could probably ship overnight.

This is a paper written by a Chinese scientist on Rotifer production. I don't know if it is useful, but the end states that if you use eggs such as we do with brine shrimp eggs, there is no need to maintain a culture.

Connecticut valley biological has rotifer cultures. They are about $5.75 each and if you buy 4 the price drops to $5.50 or so each.

I get some of my cultures there. They are small containers, but can be used as starters to grow large numbers of them.

The paper includes some unusual foods to give them for maximum production.

Trying to help.....don't know if it is any use.

Thanks guys, At the moment I am feeding them enriched sanfran newly hatched baby brine shrimp, they seem to be eating it, but I'll try to get some rotifers this weekend.

If anyone has rotifers please call me I can pick up this weekend.

Restarting a culture from resting cysts takes a very long time. It can be done, I've done it, but the cost of any significant amount of cysts makes it impractical to do for large volumes.

Best of luck....again Gilbert. I too had more this weekend. My rotifers crashed My 'reserve' tank ended up with some aweful hairy spider in there and there was a 'foam' at the top, so I dumped it as well.

FWIW... All Things Fishy will have rotifers and other fun stuff from Reed Mariculture on Wednesday.

I'm feeding them hatched baby brine shrimp (I'm still using the container of phytoplankton & brine shrimp eggs that JustDavid gave me about 1 month ago) I hope I can continue to keep them on hatched brine shrimp eggs, they seem to be eating them.

Gilbert... the larger of the brood may take the BBS, the smaller ones are probably slowly wasting away. Another quick trick is to try searching for appropriate sized foods. I've personally seen my 1 day old fry snicking after putting Oyster Eggs (frozen product by the company that makes DT's) in the water. A lot of LFS sell Oyster Eggs in the frozen section.
