nano tank lighting question

A friend of mine has a 29 gallon nano 10k lighting(not halides). He was wondering if he could keep a torch with just the factory lighting.I was wondering if anybody here keeps a torch under same lighting. Thanks

what are they compacts? t5's? either way they should be fine.. anyone else?

how many watts...the temp doesn't really matter..its the watts that matter for the most part

but if its just a standard cube it probably 3-4 watts per gallon which is enough for a torch

Depending on how much but I'd say it should be good on PC's and above.

While this is an ok way to measure lighting it's all about PAR. My 192W if PC compared to my now 216W of T5's is much much more of an increase in PAR l than just the 24W jump. If I had to guess I'd say the there was at least a double digit increase PAR between the two setups.

Also the temp of the bulb does matter a 10K bulb will be much better at growing corals and have much better PAR than a 20K bulb...
