Need Pre-Mixed Salt Water ASAP Wmass ASAP

I just adopted a tank setup from someone last night as they were moving and couldn't take it with them.

There are only a few fish, (damsels), which I plan on giving away eventually but the water they left me with is not high enough to run functions like the skimmer and phosphate reactor There is a urchin in there which I would like to keep alive for myself. There is lots of live rock which unfortunately was out of the water for 2-3 hours.

I plan on buying salt and mixing some tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone knows local stores where I can get pre mixed water and what the costs / gallon are.

I am located in Springfield MA.

ps- If anyone wants free damsels let me know!!! (1 yellow , 2blue)

You can try contacting some of sponsors here, they may carry the pre-mixed. Also, petco sells their own brand of pre-made SW. If the live rock was only out of the water for a couple of hours you won't too much die off, so it shouldn't be too bad as far cycling goes, maybe a small one-but you should be fine as they ship fully cured LR wrapped in wet newspaper.

Petco has boxes of premixed stuff. Not sure if you can add right to a tank with fish but I would assume you could in a pinch. It comes in like 4 or 5 gallon boxes.

2-3 hours isn't going to give you much die off, and neither will one day without a skimmer and phosban reactor.

I'd suggest you take a deep breath, and get some water tomorrow at your leisure.

The westernmost store I know of is Krytal Clear, in Auburn...right off the pike. Give Kim a call; I'm sure she can help you out.

EDIT: 3rd in line....The REEFlexes of the people on this site...whew.

Petco, sells seawater and is the only store around that I know of, Last I knew Fish Frenzy in indian orchard sold Rodi for a dollar a gallon if that helps any

I would interested in the damsels if they're still available, I was getting ready to buy a pair this weekend..

Yea absolutely, I cannot vouch for any kind of condition they are in as I just picked them up last night. I do know that they aren't really in my reef tank plan so I will be giving them away.

You would need to come before friday 4pmish. I will be staying in northampton for the next week after that any only in springfield during lunch hours.

I have heard that walmart sells ro di water at 39 cents a gallon, anyone seen this? Chicopee maybe?

+1 on Krystal Clear.

If you dont want to make your own, you have two options:
1) Buy a premade manufactured saltwater from a petstore. These usually come with its own jugs and come in 5 gallon container. You will be paying premium dollar for this option. Petco/Petsmart/Krystal Clear sells these.

2) Buy locally made saltwater from your LFS. Since Krystal Clear will always have saltwater available, you can purchase it from them. I'm not sure on the price, but I think its between $1-$1.5/gal. You must bring your own bucket/container for this.

Or make your own. Get RO water from Kmart/Walmart and buy some salt mix as well. You will also need a hydrometer to measure the salinity of the water. Pour the salt to the water and measure with hydrometer... and 'wala.
