New oil fiired water boiler and hot water tank, will water be safe?
Any plumbers/Reefers out there
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are having a new oil fiired water boiler and hot water tank installed and I see a lot of what looks like copper piping . Now I know I have copper piping in the house and I would imagine that after a while with age the pipes do not leach any copper into the water. What about with new pipes . At least I have never had and issue with my water being put in my tanks. I do have a RO/DI unit.
Do I need to worry about copper and other impurities from this new system?
I Will most likely talk the technician tomorrow but pretty sure He is not a reefer and might not give me the right answers.

Gee, I thought that was the purpose to run through an RODI unit. Is it not suppose to remove the copper/heavy metals etc?

I do not think you have anything to worry about or be concerned.

Plus your RODI should be hooked up to the cold water supply not the hot water.

Does that make any sense?

Better to ask regardless.

As long as you use an RO/DI unit you will be fine. You should never put tap water in your tank anyway because of the phosphates, chlorine and heavy metals and other contaminates. You don't need to worry any more than before the water running through the pipes doesn't pick up any significant amount of copper just let the water run for a minute before you use it. But your RO/DI unit will remove eberything.
