i got a bunch of sps corals yesterday. the person who had the corals had them under medal halides. i have a tek light fixture 6 bulb. when i got the corals yesterday i put them on the sand. but now i am thinking should i put them at the top or should i leave them on the sand?

I would go midway and then see how they do. If they dont color up or look unhealthy then move them to the upper level of your tank. depending on what strength of halide they were under your light might be more powerful or the other way around. gotta play around with them and see where they will do the best. for the most part sps like lots of light

Mid to top, I'd leave the sandbed area for any LPS or lower light corals. It's not a bad Idea to start them low and move them up, but not always necessary IMO, unless you see them stressing/bleaching too much. It can take a month for new corals to adapt to a new system, so unless they start looking worse, be patient for them to color up.
