Hello, I’m Izac. Have been living in NE for about 3 years. Quincy, and now Worcester. I have a small 15 gallon Fluval Evo tank. I like the rectangular and short design.
I have 1 large live rock, a Scooter Blenny, and 2 Camel Shrimp. Also have a leather coral, hammerhead, and Duncan.
Check out the photo. No fish were out in the open for the photo op.

I have a bunch of snails and 2 sexy shrimp getting delivered next week.

Looking for some advice on how to get the algae to start growing. I need something for the snails to eat. My tank is very clean so there is basically nothing growing inside.

Also, where can I buy RODI water by the gallon? Any places near Worcester?

Happy to be apart of the forum, hoping to go to Fragsgiving event as well.

Looks great man! Don't think you want the algae to start growing think we are all trying to keep it from growing lol! Snails as long as not overloaded will just survive off of the tank itself. Guess you could supplement with seaweed if really concerned.

I know you ask where you can get rodi water by the gallon and this is very important so glad your thinking this way. But to be honest that gets old sooooo quick when I first started reefing I thought I could sustain doing it this way life gets in the way and one trip doesn't happen and then another and another. I would highly suggest getting yourself an rodi filter they can be had on the cheap for something simple (thinking ro buddy from amazon) then they sell connectors so you can connect it underneath your sink inline with the water supplying your cold water faucet.

Happy reefing! Welcome to the club great group of people on here !

Thanks! Yeah I just want enough to grow to get the snails fed. I saw some green algae on the glass this morning so I think I’m good now. Hopefully the snails arrive next week. Got some bumble bee snails, dwarf Cerith snails, and 2 dwarf trochus snails.

I did see a 4 stage filter with attachments on Amazon for about $70. Might pick that up next month.

Ohh yeah of your tank is new ohhhh trust me the algae Will come!! Ha ha ha

Welcome, I second what owen said. I don’t think it’s necessary but If it makes you feel better you can just feed the fish more which will result in the smaller tank mates eating more. It’ll result in more algae too that’s for sure

I’m in Webster and I don’t know of any places that sell rodi anymore. There used to be a place that I’d get 5gls every week or so, it’s long since closed. I didn’t think it was a big deal while I was doing it until I scored a good deal on here for an rodi system. As soon as I had water at home I did more consistent water changes, it’s just so much easier. Keep an eye out on here, eventually someone is always selling one and usually at a very reasonable price. You could try even putting “rodi system’ in the search bar and find something.

Welcome to the hobby man! I’m just outside of Worcester in Grafton. If you don’t pick up an rodi system like everyone else is saying, I could help out in a pinch. Also, I wouldn’t worry about the algae, it will come. Last, keep an eye on the camel shrimp, I got one years ago when I first started and it starting eating my corals so he had to go! Good luck man!

there are really cheap used RO/DI on the forum pretty often for sale, scoop one of them up!

Oh man, I haven't seen them do that yet, but if they start I'll have to get them out.
And thanks for the awesome offer, I might take you up on that in the next few weeks.

I was able to purchase a 4 stage filter from Amazon and started using it. Did a 5 gallon change on my 15 gallon tank a few days ago. Tank is doing great.
Added an emerald crab, a white porcelain crab, and a dwarf neon blue goby.
Got a 5-gallon tank to cultivate some tigger pods as well. Hopefully, I get them to explode in reproduction to keep my dragonette fed.
