skatezen

If you pick it, Flick it!
Can those who attended the meeting mention what Anthony and Frank talked about?

Anthonys talk was a basic overview of propagation

- Technics for making the most of your frags
- Shipping procedures
- Fragging tools
- Propagating anemones

Franks talk was about captive breeding certain species of fish

- Listed fish already know to be captive raised
- Overview of breeding setups bare minimum to fancy
- Phytoplankton function in breeding
- Went over the list of captive breed fish, difficulty, when to feed and what(rotifiers, enriched brine .etc)

However the main thing that they both stressed was we all need to participate in both of these practices in order to reduce the toll on wild collected fish and corals. They both states the CITES regulations in the next 5 years will definately affect our ability to purchase WC livestock.

Can anyone indulge any more info on:

Things like mounting frags on their side(sps), cutting them in half length wise or into quarters were discussed. He also said you should put the cut side up facing the light. I mounted an ORA Tort on it's side about a month ago, and I can see multiple branches forming all along the side facing up. He went over fragging softies, which is basically slice and dice any way you want. It was cool watching him cut the anemone in half right through the mouth also. I'm sure some one else will chime in with more......

true, but cutting alot of softies doesnt require getting part of the mouth.

he also mentioned trying to propogate LPS...Does anyone remember the reasons. I know he said they might not be as available as they used to, but dont remember the details.

I think we got video of the whole shebang and hope to make that available somehow. Maybe we can make a podcast of the audio if it is decent. Don't expect anything too soon though.

why not podcast the video :D

I'm not even sure if the videos came out well or not, but we haven't looked into hosting or bandwidth or anything yet, never mind the time editing a 4 hour meeting takes. I think the bandwidth would be a big issue even if we had the membership database integrated so it could be a members only thing.

How about putting on DVD(s) for the library?
