Nutri Seawater

Hey all,

So I was just wondering if anyone has used the Nutri seawater. Since my tank is only 29 gallons (figure 24 or so after equipment, sand and rock) I was thinking I would just buy that and use that to fill my tank and do water changes and just top.off ever few days with RO/DI water. Is there anything that I would need to worry about using this water.

Also, since it claims to have all this bacteria in it, would I still see a cycle and will I need to seed my dry rock or will the water bring what I need. Finally, does anyone have any suggestions on sand. I like the clean white sand look.

Thanks for all the help!

I used it to start a tank 3weeks ago. I have not seen any difference as when you use live rock and live sand. I am using PETCO ocean water in all my tanks. It is cheaper and is excellent. Bottom line, both are good.

Oh, I thought the Petco water was the same thing as the Nutri Seawater. They are different?

PETCO water is the known Catalina Ocean Water.

Yes...they are different. The Petco ocean water is not rich in bacteria as it is the Nutri Seawater. Based on what is written in the box.

My apologies for not been clear. To start the tank use the Nutri Seawater. Later you can use any of them.

They are not magic. Depending on the bioload and type of corals you will need to supplement. In my mix tank y just change 10% every week. In the SPS y have to supplement every day to keep Ca and Alk plus 10% weekly WC.

Since August I am using Petco water and can not complain at all. Very convenient for me with nano tanks. I heat it for 24 hours, measure salinity and do my WC.

Nice! good to know! yea I will keep testing. I am sticking with stock lighting for now so I am planning on keeping mostly Zolas, a brain, a nem, and some hammer. Maybe a clam if I can get a good spot. Its a 29 gallon but I am thinking of having 5-6 fish so maybe I'll just stick with the nutri seawater for my water changes in the future. the only thing about that is the specific gravity in that water is a little higher than in was planning on keeping but in will see how everything plays out! thanks for the input!
