Oldest reef tank or fish only tank in our club?

Hello everyone,
I was wondering who has the oldest reef or fish only tank in our club? From what i see, most people get so excited about the reef tank idea at first. They ran out and buy all kind of equipments and fishes. Most of the time, their tank only lasts about a year or two before it is being taken down and sold.
So how old is your tank?
Mine is a bit more than two years now.

Thanks

Started in December of '03.

So 3.5 years for me. No signs of letting up yet. I may attend RA (Reefers Anonymous) next year.

2 years for me and 2 tank upgrades also..so i guess the more time in the hobby u have the bigger and better, more populated ur tank is

A lot of people that tear down don't tear down fully. For instance, I've upsized twice and just recently downsized, but I've most of my fish, and my rock corals have satayed with me. If you count that then I'm at 2 years 8 months

My first post on RC was july 4th 2003 so it was set up shortly after that.. sometime mid july... so I have has either a fish only (very short time) or Reef for 4 years??? wow!!! It can't be that long!!

I'm interested in knowing about how long an individual tank has been set up.

I think Bec's tank was running for over 6 years. I'm sure there are others, and some set up longer. How long was Hiller's 110 running? Not many can resist upgrading, downgrading, and changing tanks around - I'll bet the average tank lifetime is about a year. But lets hear about the longest running tanks.

Oldest Tank

I have had my 55 up since Nov of 2000 and a 125 up for 2 years. It's amazing how much the tank has changed, From GSP and Mushrooms to Frags from Bec, Greg and Armando that are now nice colonys. Greg's workshop was really a breakthrough for me, Thanks Greg. I don't post much and only try to make at least one meeting a year but read threads almost nightly. It is sometimes sad to see people get into a tank, watch them stock it only to sell it off. I have had my share of heartbreak with a few crashes over the years and watching Bec and Armando break down thier amazing setups. I have build a house in NH and have to move the tanks. Out of everything, Building the house, moving the family (4 kids), selling the old house, etc. The only thing that stressed me was moving the tanks. I will be doing it next weekend and will hope for the best. Reading the threads has definalty helped get ready for this move.

Moving a tank is alwyas stressful but you'll be fine John. I've stressed mysel to death about tank moves only to have them go just fine. It always took me an entire day to complete the move (breakdown to online again).

The hardest part about moving it is thinking about it.

There are several people in the Boston area with pretty old tanks. A lot of them don't post anymore but still have tanks going that are 5 + years. Some even older.

My 55 has been on going since 1994. From fish only, to softies, to predominantly acros, there have been many rewarding memories and some real heartbreaks. I still spend hours in front of my 55 acro and 60 hex seahorse tanks. The longest inhabitants are a goldflake angel and breeding pair of true percs, I've had about 4 1/2 years.

The oldest tank without being moved, downsized, or upsized we have is probably 7 or 8 years old.. not sure exactly. We have quite a number of fish that we have had for 10 years.

LOL this is funny cause we were just discussing this yesterday trying to figure out exactly how long I have had a SW tank
best we came up with was FOWLR started sometime in 95 w/PC lighting and CC bottom with the dual bio wheel filteration

started with softies and such in 97 still PC lighting and bio wheels

2000 moved up to the 75 with 2x400 MH lasted about a month then changed to the 125 in wall and massive coral introduction..

I still have 2 watchman gobies from the original 55 tank and most of the rock is in the sump from the original

when the switch was done to the 240 I purchased all Sea of Cortez rock from another reefer

My 150 has been up and running since the fall of 2004. Some of the fish, corals and all of the LR and LS from that tank came from my 90 gal that I set up in August of 2001.
So even though the "tank" is only in it's 3rd year, I consider the "reef" to be 6 years old. ;)

7 or 8 years...

Started as a 55 with 2 VHO bulbs, and upgraded to 75 with T5/T6 last year...

Same fish....same overgrown mass of branching hammer.

I recently added some really cool little flat red worms....
Willing to sell some if the price is right

My 54 has been running since Jan 2001. The fishroom went together in April of 2001. All use DSB fwiw.
