My Space Invader dropping polyps. This is the fourth time I’ve seen this in my aquarium. Definitely a bonus. Free frags! :) Anyway I have a couple colonies of Space Invader Pectinia. They are growing pretty fast. They hang off the rock work where they have literally no place to grow other than down. Down is where’s there’s no light. My thoughts on the polyps dropping off is, in the ocean this would be a natural split. The polyp would drop off and be moved by the current to hopefully a place where it would grow and start a new colony. In my tank there’s an area where the Pectinia has crowded itself to the point it has no where to grow. So it keeps dropping polyps every so often. This time around I snapped some pics to show it. If it happens in your tank. In my opinion it’s best to glue the polyp to a plug and put in a suitable location where it will grow. In my experience to leave the frag untouched it will go missing rather quickly or melt away due to lack of light. Anyways here’s a couple of pictures of my new Pectinia Polyp!

Mine does this once a while, better than cutting it with a saw.
