Peppermints eating my acan

Blueflu1

The Acan Reaper!
I bought a nice Acan from B the other day. I noticed that my peppermints, which came with my CUC, were on top of it and bothering it. I got them away, but they were back on it the next day. My Acan is a bit damaged now.

Is it normal for Peppermints to eat acans? Anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you deal with it.

I will most likely have to get rid of my peps. Right now I have a piece of acrylic glued to my mag float to make a moving shelf and my acan is on that, midway up the tank, so it is being left alone for the time being.

peppermints are opportunistic feeders....so if they see a damaged coral, they will eat it. If there's not enough other food, they're going to eat corals. If you have aiptasia, they're worth keeping...otherwise, banish them to the sump

I am thinking of getting rid of them. If I can catch them, they are going to my 46 to get rid of the aiptasia. once that is broken down, then they will be given away I guess. I want some acans!!!!!!! My coral banded could care less about anything.

sump might be an option but 5 in there will probably be too much. I feed them well too. BASTARDS!!! lol

Yep I have had them pick at Acans before. Some play nice and some don't. Then some turn bad and start picking. At least the stupid shrimp IME have not been very hard to catch.

and it begins

i had bad peppermints that ate a whole anemone- it was a flower/rock anemone that was about the size of my palm i bought at skiptons. there was plenty of food and space in the tank (it was a 90g). needless to say, i got rid of the shrimp!
