Phoenix 14K SE MH Bulb Color

I recently replaced by AB 10K bulbs with the Phoenex 14K bubs. They are really blue. Anyone use these? Not sure if I like them or not yet.

They should be quite blue and not so bright compared to ABs. You might like the ushio 14Ks better?

Yes I noticed the decrease in brightness level. Are the Ushios in between the ABs and the phoenix bulbs as far as the blue color?

Yup, IME/IMO they are right in between. My favorite MH blub.

Hmmmmm, next time I'll have to try these. The Phoenix do bring out the greens and blues but I think they are a little too blue and much less bright than the ABs.

exactly, it's always a trade off between blue and bright

if you want in between spend a little more and get the Radium 20k's they are more white with a tint of blue but not too much. Good growth rate with those bulbs too!

I can't imagine a 20k bulb, even a radium one, being more white than the Ushio 14k

gssh I have ushio 10k's they arent too bad, granted there is no blue

The ushio 14k are not too blue and nice and bright.

I had 2 Radiums with one Pheonix in the middle for a while, they look almost Identical, you wouldn't have known. IMO the Ushios burn too yellow for me. Now I run the Radiums on the HQI setting of my ballast(overdrive 10%), they burn a bit brighter/whiter. 90% of my sps color up best under the Radiums.

+1 The radium fired on an hqi ballast really can't be beat. I think it is the perfect color. The pheonix loooks more like windex, the ushio closer to urine....
