fulinn

Love to Learn
My Long Tentacled Plate Coral has been in a decline for several days. I have been trying to find out whats wrong with him with no luck. Arrived home from work today to find him covered in a tan/brown jelly like substance !!

I need advise quickly !1

I'm going to spend a few minutes researching and if I don't find out how to help I'll remove him from the tank. I don't want it to spread ..

Please help if you can, but I'm researching now.

Try a search for "brown jelly infection". I've run into this once and lost the coral so I don't have any useful advice other than the search phrase, sorry.

check your pms

second one to be exact. the one with the link to Eric Borneman's treatment protocol.

If you look up Brown Jelly Disease on Google, you come come up with lots of useful info.

Let's see if I can find some old threads in here for you as well.....

I remember Greg Hiller had a great treatment for this, let me see if I can find the thread....

Here are a few threads on brown jelly, I did a search in Reef Talk.....

I have removed him from the tank, I would say there was little to nothing left alive. As I placed him in the transfer dish, to move to QT tank, he basicly fell apart. All of the "jelly" stuff fell off, leaving only skeleton and there was only a 5 tentacles left which were totally deflated and very very tiny in size.

However, I'm afraid it will spread to my other LPS's so I still need to learn how to treat this and ID it. I have been doing the google reading, but any advise is welcome.

I'm afraid its very unlikely that this coral will survive, but I want to be ready should it strike any of my other LPS's.

Thank you for the quick reply's,

Bonnie
