We are planning to move our sump to the basement and add a fuge. Here's the parameters we are working with.
Overflow is capable of handling about 700 gph (I think)
Drain size is 1" (I think)
Return size is 3/4"
Return pump is a Mak 4 with a 3/4" outlet
Performance chart for 12' of head loss is ~800gph with this pump.
Now here is my question: Is it better to go to a larger diameter pipe between the return pump and the return bulkhead on the tank? In other words, should we go from 3/4" to say 1.5" for 10 feet or so and then back down to 3/4" to enter the tank. Will this help significantly with head loss? Or should we just go with 3/4" pipe the whole way?
