Protein skimmer problems

I purchased a SeaClone 100 Protein skimmer about a year ago. At first it worked fine but now it doesn't seem to skim much at all. When I clean it out it works a little but only for a day or so. Im a bit confused because there are no moving parts except the power head that can fail and that seems to work fine. Anyone have any idea of what may be wrong? Also are ther any suggestions for a good replacement hang on skimmer in the $100 range? I think I paid about $80 for the SeaClone.

Set the whole skimmer/pump in a bucket with 50% water and 50% vinegar and let it run over night. Look for used skimmers in the forums you can probably get something nice for 100 bucks.

Ken,I'm sorry but the seaclone is not really a good skimmer.I wish you would have found this site sooner.
I made the same mistake and bought a sub-par skimmer also.Bite the bullet and get back into this like I did.Best of luck........

check out the PS160 and PS75, they sell em on ebay for pretty cheap. i run the ps160 on my 100g system.

Thank u guys 4 your input.Iwill try the vinigar and in the meantime start looking 4 a new skimmer.I bought the SeaClone a year ago when I first got into the hobby and didn't know any better. Thanks again 4 your help.
