qting snails and tube worms

ffsteve

The tool man
i know you always qt fish and rock, but do you have to do it with snails and tube worms?

I doubt it. I don't think they carry the same diseases as fish, but this may need clarification. I've personally never heard of it.

I haven't QT's inverts like snails and such. But inverts aren't necessarily pest free. A good example are pyramid snails on a new clam potentially infesting a tank with existing clams. I don't own clams (yet). But I'd think just a close visual inspection may be adequate.

It's a good idea, but few people do it. IME the risks with inverts is much less than with fish or corals, but there are always possibilities. Nusiance flatworms can easily come in on snail shells, there is probably a slight risk that fish parisite cysts could have settled on just about anything wet, and who knows what else....
