Well, it was time (finally) to put the tank on the new stand.
The stars aligned, there were enough people at the house.
The overflow was ready, the bulkheads were bought. New drill bits for clean overflow holes.
A hundred feet of spaflex was coiled and waiting for connection. Holes have been drilled through a wall and a floor, ready to run plumbing.
the few corals that lived after my move and subsequent crash have been waiting in holding tanks for 21 months.
frags have been bought and are growing out. hundreds of dollars invested and donated to the club at the auction. a 400gallon system waits in my fish room. We're getting ready.
A 60x24 tank was ordered and paid for. 2 months later.....I was told it wasn't coming. Refund, and a 2 month delay.
I found another source, ordered and paid. Another 2 months. It ****FINALLY**** came in. I picked it up, and carefully drove it home. Finally, I had the tank. Now that I had my dimensions, I could order my stand!
In the meantime, the tank was carefully preserved in it's packaging.
A custom fabricated calfo overflow was designed, fabricated, and carefully installed.
After what felt like what was an interminable wait, but was actually only two weeks.....Finally, the stand and 'step' were delivered. The columns and beam under it were waiting for supporting the floor.
It was time.......almost 2 years in the making. I was going to have a reef again!
The tank was carefully placed on a dolly and wheeled into place in the garage. It had a 40 foot trip remaining....garage to hall, hall through kitchen, and into family room....it's final resting place atop an amazingly beautiful custom stand, and the culmination of 2 years of effort and patience....not something I am widely known for.
Getting water in the tank was so close I could SMELL it.......
One of the volunteers who showed up jokingly suggested that 'it might be time to unwrap the tank', so we could get a grip on it to get it up the stairs.
I say...yeah, it IS about time.
The wrapping comes off......
OH....NO.
NO!
NO!
NO!
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!
