Recirculating Mod - Euroreef & ASM

i am very interested if you have the drill bits. i would love to get together and do this.

I would like to try this on at least one of my euro-reefs. We have the 8/2 6/2+ and a 5/2. I have a up to 1 1/2 bit forstner bit, and he Shopsmith that acts as a horizontal boring machine. Let me know what size drills we need.

gate mod stops the splashing water sound.

penman,
I like the idea of using your press. lets see what size holes we all need and then locate bits ( i think i have them already)

I am debating doing a dual pump setup.
if anyone else is interested, I may be able to get additional needle wheel pumps

I have an ASM G3 and a Euro 6-2. Funny I was just thinking about this myself. I like to be in on this.

We have until Thanksgiving to do this. The shop is not heated. I expect to see snow in the forecast any day now. Let me know what I need for parts for the recirc for the 8/2

if you want to drain feed:
we'll need 2 Rubber seals for the holes, a length of pipe to extend the pump output and that should be it.

Mcmaster carr carries the one that euro reef uses as the pump grommet, asm uses a brand called uniseal. I haven't found a dist. for that yet except for New zealand....but then i haven't looked too hard either.

if you want to pump feed, we could use the seals or we could tap and thread.
i like the seal setup but we could even drill and tap collection cups for overflow collections too..

paul, pick a weekend thats good for you. the sooner the better.

i ordered the uniseals and drain fitting from asmskimmer.com yesterday. they already sent me a tracking #. i am not going to drain feed.

I ordered g4x from asm but there out of stock in tell next week sometime.
so i'm intrested! I think i'm going to do a dual drain feed
so let me when your going to do this and I'll be there if i have recived my skimmer

i just finished my recirc mod on my g2 about 2 hours ago. this thing is skimming more than twice what it was before. best and easiest mod i have ever done in this hobby. it also only cost about $15 for tools and supplies. i suggest it to everybody. :)

Hi Scott

Put me down for 2 sets of mods for CS8-2.

How much flow do you need for drain feed?

Thanks
not much.
i am guessing ~ 300gph hr. i am going to put a ball valve dump off and see what is the most effective flow thru for producing skimmate.
the longer the contact time the more effcient the skimming.

how's this sunday?

i am ordering parts today for tomorrow delivery

howard, richard and paul; i have you covered.
anyone else want parts?

I am ordering the matching seal on the euroreef: Mcmaster P/N 9280K34 (1")
