Red Bali Starfish lose leg

I have a Red Bali starfish and I did come moving and adding to my tank and I pissed off my star enough that it dropped a leg. At first I was "oh maybe a put a rock on him and he let go of his leg" but all of a sudden the leg appeared on the side of another rock. It was moving... I woke this morning and it as like three rocks over but i haven't seen it move again yet. Any one have any experience in this situation. ::

Most starfish can regenerate from a limb. It either will grow 4 more arms and be another star in your tank or it will eventually fade away.

well when I just fed the fish the little limb started moving again so that look like a good sign.

starfish are now called sea stars by scientists. The sea stars that lose a leg will regenerate a new one although it is usually not as large as the one it lost. The leg that came off may grow four more if there is enough material to keep it going, otherwise it will eventually dry up.
Would love to hear how it went in the end.
