Has anyone had any experience with red bugs and low temps?
one of my heater blew out at some point and on Saturday afternoon I noticed my tank temp was at 68* ( the windows in the cellar were still open at that time) This was noticed basically because 2 of my tri colors were sliming. When I sucked the slime out I seen the red bugs on the slime, out of the 14 bugs that I sucked out of the slime only 1 was still moving, My temp made a slow drive to 78.4 by Monday afternoon. I have not really taken the time to search for bugs but am sure they are still around but wondering if anyone has done any experiments on the low temp and survival of the bugs? Possibly a way to keep them in check without adding chemicals to our tanks?
Before anyone asked, with the temp drop all is fine. The ONLY piece at this time that seems to have been effected was my purple pillow, I lost the whole colony to RTN Sunday night into Monday
if anyone that I gave a piece to still has it please LMK when it grows out for you I would love to get a piece back. All other corals and inhabitants seem to be no worse from the experience.
