lots of flow, and wet skimming.

I have a Euroreef skimmer with a good size cup and I've had it running for over a month and 1/2 and it's only half full. What adjustments do I need to make and how do I do it. Any advice would be great.

Not sure how a Euroreef skimmer works.
But generally what you want to do is slow the water exiting the skimmer body so that the water column/bubbles rises in the collection cone/tube area. This will give you a more watery skimmate"wet skimming".

Try this it works on my euro reef rs 80. Close the air valve like 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. the bubbles in the chamber should be way at the bottom with out a ton of them gettting into the outflow tube, you will get some in the out tube but you do not want to over do it. Then close the the out flow tube by turning the piece on the top of the tube so that the water line is up near the narrow part of the neck just below the cup. That should get you started from here it is just a matter of playing with the water level to get wet or dry skimmmate. LMK how it works for ya. - Jenn

phosphate export will help too. Look at a phosban reactor to help combat phosphates causing cyano growth. Lowering phosphates helped me kick a cyano issue.

On the older euro-reefs you pull the riser tube up and down to adjust the water level. How deep are you running the skimmer and what is the model number.

FWIW, the reccomendations about wet skimming come from the need to pull out as much nutrients as possible. You can also go back a step and look to reduce the nutrient import into the system so you don't have to fight it.

Reduced feeding, frequent stirring and siphioning out of detritis, and using high quality make up water can make a big difference.

Also keep in mind that a bit of cyano is basically normal and nothing to be concerned about unless it's getting out of control.

Oh yea, one other thing (debatable). IMO the common reccomendation of high flow to discourage cyano really serves to inconvience the cyano. Annoy it enough and it won't grow much but something else likely will start feeding on those same nutrients (and maybe leading to a new and more annoying problem. Just something to ponder?
