Red Sea Nano Max XL Heater Location

Hi there. Looking to see if anyone has a Red Sea nano with rear sump. Red Sea has been wishy washy saying they don’t provide recommended location for heater and I’m trying to see where it fits. People are saying fully submersed below the protein skimmer horizontally but everything I read from manufacturers is that the heater should be left vertically. Thanks

I was able to fit one 100-watt BRS titanium heater vertically in the right side of the sump near the return pump.

I put another (same type) horizontally under the skimmer.

This has been working for me for the last 6 months.

I found that one 100-watt heater was not enough for my application.

As long as its fully submerged and is a area with flow you will be good. What heater are you using that says keep it vertical?
