Reef Flo Orca 250 Skimmer Update

I think I have finally found my last skimmer for a long time. After using the Orca for the last few weeks, here are my observations:

1. Continuously outputs dark, almost black skimmate.
2. No overflows
3. No need for continuously adjusting water level - this is the amazing thing about this skimmer. It is really hands off after the initial tweeking.
4. Less cleaning while maintaining the same performance - the venturi is 1/2 inch as opposed to my ASM that was a narrow one and needed weekly cleaning to maintain optimimum performance. Also, I never remove the collection cup at the top of the skimmer. The cup is so large that it is easily cleaned by turning off the recirc pump and wiping the collection cup with towels - I have only done this once. I had to empty the waste collection cup that sits on the floor every 2 days.
5. Quiet operation - really quiet although not really a concern for me in the fishroom.
6. Fine bubbles that are almost too small to see - the whole skimmer is "milk" white.
7. Low power only around 450 watts. I feed it from a tee of my main pump.

Hopefully the good news will continue - so far so good! Really GOOD !!!

Couldn't help myself, had to respond to this post.

I've installed a couple of these so far and must agree that the Reeflo Orca 250 is a truly awesome piece of gear!

To reinforce point #5 it really is amazing how quiet the operation is for such a powerful system. Installation is a breeze too!

The only trouble that I had with one unit was plumbing the drain from the skimmer. It needed to be extended for this particular installation and the european fittings didn't match up too good with my standard pvc fittings in the van, LOL! Very pleased with the company's entire line of equipment so far.

They Are only going to get better as well wait until the moded needlewheels come out, preliminary's show 100+ scf

Excellent product collaboration from Sequence and Reef Octopus. My distributors website is showing some really exciting gear in the "Coming Soon" section and I can't wait to get my hands on them!

This skimmer is awesome in person. I really enjoyed seeing your whole setup and the skimmer was very impressive. The foam head was like sea foam and the skimmate looks like used motor oil. From what you showed me I'd say you get around a liter a day of skimmate. Very nice.

Mike at ReefSpecialty is testing the new needle-wheel. He has been really helpful with helping me set up the skimmer and fine tuning it. Can't imagine this skimmer any better than it is, but I'll be talking with Mike periodically for updates and a possible upgrade depending on his results.

Hi again

Hi Jackson. It was a pleasure meeting you and your baby boy! The skimmer is still cranking out really stinky, black, opaque skimmate. I'm gonna need a bigger waste collection cup if I decide to get the upgraded needlewheel.
