Remedy for ich in a reef tank?

Assuming I don't have a Quarantine Tank (safe assumption) has anyone had luck with any medications/methods to remove ich from a tank with soft corals? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

By far the most important step to fighting ich in the tank, is to fix the problems that made the fish succumb to the infection in the first place.

Happy, healthy fish generally don't get ich, even when a sickly tank-mate is spilling ich trophonts into the water by the hundreds. So the first step is to determine why your fish have ich, and remove that stressor. It could be water quality, it could be recent shipping stress, it could be incompatible tankmates, it could be a lot of things.

Fix the root cause and you'll have much more luck with things like Garlic, Selcon, and KickIch that might help your fish recover under good tank conditions.

If you want ideas about what your root stressor might be, it would be helpful to list some tank details, water test parameters, fish in the tank, any recent additions or changes, etc.

if u want to stray away from chemicals you can try a crew of cleaner shrimp and a cleaner wrasse. the cleaner wrasse do a damn good job... id look into one. they range about 25 bucks.

other than that chemical wise you can look into kick ich or there is a company called marine enterprises inc who make a form of malachite green .75%zinc that both claim to be reef safe.

I second the water quality idea..... clean filters.....do water changes.

Another thing that did actually help ( I think ) back when I could not seem to rid myself or perpetual ick was a small UV sterilizer.

I have also heard of temperature increase and salinity dropping to try to control it although I never tried it.
