i think i made a boo-boo.i just bought a 4lb piece of live rock that looked a little dirtier than usual but it was just the size i needed for my partitioned 5 gal baby seahorse tank.i took a bucket of ro deionized water dumped the rock into it and scubbed the surface of it ,it may have been submerged for no more than 30 seconds.the next day at the bottom of my 5 gal tank i found dead brisstle worms, and the water looked a little cloudier than before.my question is did i destroy the live rock quality?im about to do ammonia tests shortly etc.luckily there was no livestock in the tank,i was just getting it set up.im going to dump the water anyway and take another 5gals. from my 29 gal sea horse tank.should i still use that piece of live rock?is it still functional?

I'd say it is still functional. You may want to watch any spikes because of die off but in 30 seconds of Ro water I highly doubt everything died off.
