RO/DI Water Delivery in Boston?

Hey guys,

Now that Winter's here, my outside RO/DI filter shattered yesterday due to frost (I forgot it was going to get so cold). Given that my set-up is very low volume and setting it up inside is impossible for plumbing reasons, I'm wondering if anyone knows a boston water provider that delivers water. If so, do you know roughly what the costs are? I have a 90 Gallon so would probably need at least 50G / month.

Never heard of anyone delivering RODI. A few delivered NSW a while back but it wasn't cost efficient. Maybe I am missing it, but I would think the cost of a new RODI unit would be less expensive route.

Yup they sell sink and Laundry adapters, as well you can always add a fitting under the sink after the shutoff. In each of these all connection are threaded connection so you can just take them off when you are done.

I had an emergency need last fall when I a cfl bulb fall into my sump the same time my ro filter siezed. One of the water companies delivered 100g of distilled water to my house the next day.

I have about 250 gallons of RO ready to go at all times here , soon to be cutting that in half and having that be salt mix , But still plenty

I use an adapter underneath my kitchen sink for my RODI unit and none of the plumbing is pierced.

If you talk with Spectrepure people, they can send you all sorts of adaptor for your RODI unit.
Hauling water is no fun.

I bought and hauled jugs around for years. I got a bulk reef supply unit on Black Friday a bunch of years back and will never haul another lol . Spend a few bucks on a unit and you won't regret it

Distilled water is not a good thing to use on a regular basis. While it may be Ok, it may also contain copper. Continued addition of copper could prove devastating to a reef.

In the end if you are serious about having a reef you will buy a RODI unit and figure out how to make it work for you.

Bulk reef supply RO/DI unit comes with a couple different adapters making it easy to attach to a sink faucet if you do not want to the plumbing.

Mine is plumbed from a tee on the cold water line in laundry room. Simple hose adapter.

This has not been the case for decades. Very few, if any distillery's use copper these days in the process. It's far too expensive and there are cheaper alternatives. The risk is more trace levels of resins or epoxies.

There is a greater risk of copper n your salt mix that from distilled water.

I did 2x100g WC on back to back days with distilled water ib my then 230g system and had no noticeable loss of any inverts including a handful of urchins , starfish multiple variety's of shrimp and crabs along with all my snails

I agree though and wouldn't use it as a long term option, but i also wouldn't want to rely on the the LFS either. For me, my own RODI is the only way to go. Far too important of a parameter to trust others with IMO.

This is absolutely the truest thing. You can get a used RODI most times for short money and still has good filters.
