rockpool shrimp (Palaemon elegans) these shrimp come from our waters and i collect them to use as feeders like ghost shrimp but they do live in our tanks and do a great job as a clean up crew also
I have some that are 3/4"-1" that my seahorses do not eat

Hi, I’m considering starting a 35 gallon seahorse tank. Do your seahorse naturally hunt and eat these shrimps live? What seahorses eat these shrimps?
Also will it be possible for the shrimps to breed in a small refugium or will a pair of seahorses eat every single shrimp?
Thanks

I have hippocampus seahorses they hunt and eat them and yes i have bigger breeders of these shrimp i just dont normally breed them myself so the ones im getting rid of are too big for my seahorses

Hi I’m still thinking of having these shrimps. Do you know if they eat detritus or do they eat corals or carnivorous and will eat things like sea slugs/snails. Also what temperature do you keep these in?

They haven't bothered any coral in my seahorse tank.\n I know they eat debris cause I've seen them eat that they eat algae Wafers, Nori sheets.\n So I would assume they eat Some algaes I keep them in a tank with salt water with no heater, just a sponge filter. And they survive, they also survive in my seahorse tank, and the temperature is 78°. The shrimp survive in tide pools. So they're from our water which is cold. But when they're in tide pools, the water becomes very hot. And they still are surviving so I believe their range is very open. it youd really like to try some just pickup ill give you some no charge i just gotta get rid of some at this point

Robbie you home tomorrow morning. I would like to try some. And would also love to see your horses.

Thanks for the info. I did like to take some and try them out. Worst case, all those shrimps will end up as snacks for my harlequin tusk. When’s a good time/day to come by?
