in my old house, I was running almost 2000 watts of heaters before I put in the fish room. then we moved

the fish room in this house has baseboard heat, and between the halides, pumps, etc, I have only one heater in the 350+ gallons of volume.

of course, my electric bill still makes National Grid happy every month.

Just make sure you build a base for the sump to sit on off the floor.If it sits directly on the concrete,it will wick away heat from the sump.
Besides the wood base gives you a convienient place to mount the return pump.I'm doing a water change tonight and could snap a few pictures of my set up,if you want,Kim.

Word! I've got mine on 3 4x4's. Another benefit to having it raised up a bit is that it gives you at least a little height to work with when you want to siphon out detrius. Sometimes I wish I'd tried cinder blocks so I'd have even more height.
