i always do stupid things... i know this... about 5 month ago i put a red/yellow/purple sea apple in my tank... my ex room mate got it free from one of his customers... that person had it for i guess 2 years...

but i have to say that it is doing great, look great... eats cyclopeze (sp?) and DT's...

i recently re scaped my tank and he feel off his spot on the glass... the guy in a matter of 2 days moved back to the exact same spot where he was, amazing...

what do you guys know about these "bad" things?

the only thing i've heard is when they die it's not good, but they are so cool looking...

Well, sea apples are just big sessile (not actively moving) sea cucumbers. according to Julian Sprung's Invertebrates: A quick Reference Guide , "Should not be housed with fishes. The eggs are toxic. Harmed by pump intakes or overflow drains. Injured animals may release potent toxins. Provide strong current to stimulate feeding." I would keep an eye out just in case it decides to lay eggs, but other than that I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think, and I definately could be wrong, that like other sea cucumbers they release the toxin holothurin when stressed or dying, so if you see it starting to go don't hesitate to take it out of your tank immediately

thanks mike... he is really cool... he is right on the front glass directly in front of a power head and where the sea swirl stop on it's left most sweep... i like it being there because it is so easy to see how it is doing and how cool of a thing it really is... god damn williams hit a home run... i really hate the yankees... back to the apple... when he fell of the glass i was really nervous because i was affraid he would not do well anywhere else in the tank... i wastch him move up the rock work, to the glass and then right back to the same spot he was in... watching it eat is amazing too.. any idea on how long they live?
