I filmed this back in early May. Happened a hour or two before my light shuts off. I remember noticing something was off with the urchin beforehand since the urchin wasn't wandering around like usual, but instead was just sitting still midway up the glass directly in the downward flow of the HOB filter. The urchin then moved all the way to the surface into the surface flow of the HOB and began spawning.
So I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced sea urchin spawning in their aquariums? Does anyone know the natural triggers for their spawning? Has anyone successfully bred them at the hobbyist level? I saw some videos online of professional aquaculturist successfully inducing them to spawn through artificial means.
