seahorse breeding

sciknen

$20.00 PEOPLE, COME ON.
Well my seahorses have been doing the nasty for a while now

I'm going to be tying in anoterh tank and sump. So I'm wondering how do I get the babies to the 2nd tank? Should I move the male over before he pops. Or just try to scoop em out?

scoop them out. And dont let them hit the air. They say taking the father out, could break up the bond he has created with his mate. Also it could cause to much stress and cause him to abort the pregnancy. Good luck. It is a pain in the butt and a lot of work. What kind of horses do you have?

H reidi

I'm gonna start making brine soon for practice. And just feed it to my reef tank.

Should I use a net to round them up into a cup or only use the cup?

Large turkey baster and these guys need rotifers for about the first two weeks starting to add the artemia in with the rots to transfer over.

So rotifer than Artermia than baby brine shrimp?

What I use:

Rotifers, in light "green water" from birth to 2 weeks
At about 8 - 10 days at newly hatched, decapsulated brine (not too much, not too little - do not over feed brine) with rots.
Stop rots about 2 weeks
Just hatched brine (artemia) until about 4 1/2 weeks
at about 3 1/2 weeks s start adding enriched artemia
at about a month try to wean to frozen.

Always overlap foods as they develop at different rates
When switch to brine do not over feed, don't want water overloaded with non-nutritious food.

Thanks helps alot
