Seeding Dry/Dead rock with Live Rock

Anything I should know about this that is not super obvious.

i have about 30lbs of dry rock added into my tank and I am going to purchase some live rock today after work. How much live rock should I get? Little Pieces vs Big pieces. Does it matter where it is in the tank? Does it have to be touching the dry rock. Top of the rock vs Bottom of the rock?

I just dropped some live rock in the tank. Dry rock was covering with coraline noticeably within a month.
