serpent stars

Anyone here ever have thier serpent star give birth to babies i have about 20 or 30 babies in the reef right now maybe more not sure on survivability of the newborns atm

Mini serpents are really cool. Dawn (skyedolphan) sells them all the time when she cleans out her sump as she always has them by the thousands. They are neat when they are that small and fun to watch..........

What color, Ive had mine for years, never got babies, maybe cause I only got 1. lol
just found this arm the other day and hoping... cool green stripes..

Most likely they are "mini serpant stars" which I think are not babies of your full size stars, but rather are a seperate kind of brittle star that only get that big.

They are good guys, and very cool critters IMO. Abundant in most established reef tanks that I've seen. One of my favorite "hitchhickers".

Are they fast, with legs that move in a whip-like fashion?

I'm trying to figure out if those are the critters that hitchhiked into my system on my live rock.

yea, they move pretty quick, and I can see how the movement of their arms could be called "whip-like".

Try picking up a few smaller rocks in your tank. You'll probably find a bunch hanging on underneth. They look just like big brittle stars, but they are only an inch or so across arm tip to tip.
