Skimmer going to be to big?

Hey fellow reefers putting together my build (tank is cycling)

Tank Is 60 gallons total water volume.

Question is do you think a nyos quantom 160 is going to be to big?

Might be more than you need for just Coral, but if you like feeding your fish this will work fine. DC pumps make throttling really easy in cases like this. BTW, I think 60 gallons is actually the manufacturer recommended smallest size.

Save your money for now. Wait and see what your system needs. If you over do it you could put on timer or controller to fine tune your nutrients

I have the skimmer. Just wondering if I should sell it and get a more appropriately sized one as I read to big of a skimmer will not be as efficient as a properly sized one.

Brs recommends

• Heavy Bioload (Most Common) - 75 Gallons
• Medium Bioload - 150 Gallons
• Light Bioload - 250 Gallons

I would say it’s a little big. We all would benefit from an undersized skimmer rather than oversized
