Skimmer output down to a trickle?

Guys,

I have a reef octopus skimmer in my sump which has been acting a bit weird lately. It's been working for the past 9 months and to my knowledge is still working, but instead of there being a constant 'flow' of water out of the pipe there is now merely a trickle (drops of water).

There's still skim going up and I can adjust that level fine--is this something I should be worried about? I only ask because my skimmer is basically 'stuck' under the tank. I'd have to move everything to replace it, so would prefer not to change anything if I can avoid it.

Sounds like the intake is blocked so you are not drawing in water. I've had snails crawl into there do the same.

And or the pinwheel has become clogged up. You'll need to pull the pump out for cleaning either way.

Thanks, I'll look for videos for how to clean the pump and see if that helps!

no water coming out means either no water coming in or a significant leak somewhere. It would be up to you to find which one applies and correct the cause.
