I'm not familure with that exact skimmer.. some skimmers take longer than others to work.. my very first skimmer was a coral life skimmer.. it took a month ( and a lot of tinkering) to get it to work properly.. my reef Octopus needed only a few days ..my remora C skimmed thick nasty goo the very first night...My CPR SR3 took about a week..... but a few general things to mention... first what is your Sg.. Sg. effects skimming... low Sg. resists making foam more than a higher Sg.... ( please tell me you are NOT breaking it in in fresh water).. bio load effects skimming as well.. so if you have a few inverts and no fish your results will be diffrant....some additives and chemicals effect surface tension that effects skimming. so if you are constantly adding chemicles it can effect your skimmate production.. and lastly adjustment...adjust "heavy" and back off to the type of skimmate you like.. obviously this is not the be all end all about skimmers but it should get you thinking in the right direction...

It is saltwater i have five fish five shrimp one crab about five blue leg hermit crabs and 8 snails I've adjusted every which way possible but I can't get the water level up high enough for the bubbles to make it up and over the cup it's about an inch low it dry skimmed for about a week and now nothing just bubbles below where the water level should be not even dry skimming anymore

You might want to check the air intake to make sure it hasn't gotten clogged or otherwise obstructed. Check the tube for debris and kinks, then the actual spot where it connects to the pump. When in doubt, blow into the tube with some force and see what happens.

I just bought one about a month ago.
You've turned the exit tube to shut down flow?
I turned mine with the white dot all the way towards the tank side and flooded the collection cup with water.
You should be able to fine tune it just below the neck.

I spun that tube it just made more bubbles in the tube i held my finger over the airline from the pump and it raises the level until I let go and drops back down. I might just have to return it it must be defective

It only takes 1/2 turn to close the exit port. Perhaps the intake to the pump is obstructed.

Then watch out, it'll probably be overflowing soon. Skimmers are like that :)

It's a good skimmer for an HOB. I think you'll be pleased once it's dialed in.
