I have 15-20 dwarf cerith snails in my display refugium and I noticed there was 10+ all clumped together in the upper corner and thought it was weird and almost took a picture. About an hour later I went down and saw they had dispersed and there were several snail egg circles!

In my first setup I had cerith that were breeding all the time. I added some blue green chromis and they ate all the babies off the glass.
I have tons of snails breeding in the system it was just fun to see the orgy I just wish I had gotten a picture! This is the post orgy break up dance!

That is a good point! Must be all the phyto we painstakingly culture! I have tons of small snails in the DT I just missed all the eggs as I have been super busy with work and just go down to feed them fast but it must have happened as I have been seeing the baby snails everywhere!

From what I’ve seen , my snails spawn when there’s a swing/change in salinity.

Ironically I accidentally lowered my salinity a bit on accident and slowly raised it over a few days on Mon/Tues and wonder if that played a factor?

I have no concrete answer but I’m assuming that they probably bread in a certain season and rainy season would dilute the saltwater. Again no actual evidence just assumptions

salinity and temperature. My Tiger Trochus snails have been making woopie all winter because when my wife feeds the woodstove to nuclear reactor temperatures the house temp and tank temp rise a few degrees, and boom, now I have hundreds of trochus snails. I aint complaining though, they cost a fortune these days!
