snap/crack sound

So my pistol shrimp usually makes a little snapping sound which I have become used to....Last 2 weeks or so I have heard louder snaps, which I thought was the shrimp, which turned out to be cracks and now my sump is empty.......the whole back is cracked like a spider web....

I have no idea..but my carpet is wet....and I need to replace it....sux cause only thing that will fit under my 46 bow cabinet is a 10 gallon I think...

See if you can find something acrylic for a sump. That sucks in a big way. Good luck.

Problem

i am not sure what the problem was, it was well supported I think. Should I put foam under it since its placed on wood? There is nothing even touching the back except the sand in the fuge...so flipping weird...

Are there any chips on the corner where it may have spidered out like a windshield?

No, its actually directly in the center of the glass...so weird...

was the sump used as a fuge? could there have been a mantis there? sorry to hear about your misfortune.

As Iffers said, acrylic should be a lot safer. Those 10 gallon tanks are made from pretty thin glass IMO.

Well, i made a new 20 gallon sump last night and Im putting it in tonight. I hope this one doesnt break.

Overall the problem sucked but going up to a 20 gallon sump with 1/4" glass will make me feel better.
