So my first 75G reef is up & running - Missing Fish Question

I started my tank off with 2 Goby's. A Leopard who is always visible & a Rainford Goby (Court Jester). Here in lies my question. Where's the Rainford??????? It's like I spent $15.00 on a bag of water & just added it to my tank. I have not seen him since I opened the bag after acclimation. I've have looked everywhere during day & night & have not seen hide nor hair of him.......

I just added a Coral Beauty to the tank & he's always everywhere. I figured maybe with a more active tank mate, I'd see the rainford but still nothing. I also have 4 turbo snails & 12 narcissus snails & a serpent star fish...... Still no Rainford. Any idea's??? & no, he's not on the floor behind the tank, I checked numerous times. Thanks for any help.

My tank: 75G
75 Pounds of LR with plenty of hiding spots & caves but all VISIBLE to my eye.
80 Pounds of Live Sand..... No hard substrate at all so I don't think he's in the sand, I don't see any burrows.

I have a Yasha Goby that I'm lucky to see poke out every couple weeks. Also have a Yellow Watchman Goby that is out a bit more often but still hides a lot. Both seem to pop out more at feeding time but then go back to hiding.

I had 3 Red Firefish... 2 have been MIA for like a month now. The 3rd is out and about during the day, but as the lights go down it disappears. No clue where it goes.

Also have a Banggai that's gone MIA. Not sure if it's hiding with fry or if it met an untimely end somehow.

Unless you see your parameters spike I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks for that MRX. I also have another concern. I just read some info that said I should add a Coral Beauty as one of the last fish I add because of their aggressiveness....... I did it backwards & my LS said nothing to persuade me to wait....... I also mentioned to this shop owner that I wanted to add a Marine Betta to my tank at some point, I just read that, that fish would be a bad choice also. What now??

Do you have a sump/fuge? If/when you want to add new fish you could move the Coral Beauty to the sump/fuge for a while and let the new livestock stake out their territory.

In regards to the marnie betta LiveAquaria has some good info: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+46+364&pcatid=364

I'd take anything your LFS says with a grain of salt. Some of them are just out to sell whatever they can; and even if they aren't they might not know your situation enough to provide valid info. Always do your own research before buying something, try and avoid impulse buys.

I do not have a sump or fuge. I was told by the LFS who is a very reputable dealer in business for over 14 years, that I could add more fish in 2 weeks. I'm afraid that's only going to allow the CBA to stake a firmer claim on the tank. I'm going to see if I can add another fish this week, I'll visit one of my other source LFS's who's been around for many more years & explain my situation. Thanks for the info MrX.
