Spray paint and reefs

I'm pretty sure this is a no but... I'd like to paint my submerged items black. I was surprised enough to see that pvc primer/cement was not leaching voc's into the water when I started salt water. I know there are black pvc parts out there but I love my 1 1/2" p-traps with the cleanout plug. Makes draining the plumbing much easier, just pull the plugs and drain.

+1 on Krylon Fusion.

BUT, make sure you give it ample time to cure. I think the directions state that full cure occurs after 7-10 days. FME this is pretty accurate as it's pretty soft for the first week or so. If it were me I'd give it 2+ weeks to cure before submerging.

I know people do it,personally i would not. Products may claim to be safe but they are not expecting the painted item to be in a reef tank where very sensitive animals are kept. Saltwater is very aggresive.

I am not saying that i know for sure wether it is safe or unsafe,just stating i would not risk it personally

Thanks for the input! I may make up duplicate parts, paint them and let them dry for a few weeks

+1 Krylon Fusion I painted two frag racks and have had no problems. Let it dry for a week at least.
