Stupid AC Jr cable, errr venting

Built the cable months ago and had it working before on the laptop. So I disconnect from my 90 for a month or two as I set it off to the side since it's not needed as much on the 90 and hook it up to the 120 which will be the new DT. Do you think it wants see the AC jr......nope and to top it off when it's hooked up my PH reads 9.61........stupid efin freakin cable. Now I have to open it up and ohm it out. I'd rather be setting up the commands to all the new toys I added to the tank. Murphy's law........errr, always sumtin.

Not sure why it would not see the AC jr anymore but the PH readings can get distorted by a ground loop. This happens when you have the computer grounded via a separate point than the ACjr itself of through the tank itself. You can get / make a ground isolated serial cord. Neptue recommends that if you are leaving the PC hooked up all the time to make sure to use the ground isolating serial cable.

Perhaps you now have the AC or the computer connected to a different power supply or plug?

I suppose it's possible for this to also cause communication problems.

Doh......I can't believe I just got duped by the grounding loop. When they were connected both ACjr and laptop were both on the same power strip. Now it makes sense as too how it was previously connected and worked fine. Thanks emabie.

Happy to help. Good luck.
